Luse Research

Luse Genealogical research · Brand visual identity · Latvia · 2018

Luse genealogical research is a company led by an experienced family historian based in Latvia. The company employees search for and read vital records and other documents revealing German, Russian, and Latvian family history data.

I was asked to create a visual identity for the client. Previously there was no visual system in place, so I had to develop a full set of visual branding tools including, for example, a new logo, colour palette and typography set. I rolled out different corporate branding asset examples to showcase the newly made guidelines and organized the visual toolkit in a brand book.

The main focus of the company is research of family trees. I used the idea of a tree as the base visual concept for the new logo. It depicts two family trees merging together and forming a third one, as it often happens in life with families joing together. The colour palette was created inspired by the stones of the Baltic sea beaches. It represents one of the classic Latvian landscapes, telling a story about the land of the researched families.
